Scholarship
STC offers two different scholarship programs yearly. One is for high school seniors who attended District 54 schools, and the other is for current District 54 students who will be attending a summer program.

High School Scholarship
The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs is once again offering one-year $2,000 scholarships to eligible seniors graduating in 2010. There are three types of scholarships available:

• Junior College/Trade School/Vocational School Scholarships for seniors graduating in the upper 50 percent of their class (up to two scholarships available);
• Four-Year College/University Scholarships for seniors graduating in the upper 30 percent of their class (up to nine scholarships available); and
• The Bonnie Greenberg Memorial Scholarship for a graduating special needs senior with a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The student need not be enrolled in special education classes, but must have a current IEP (one scholarship available).

All seniors who meet the following eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply:

• Attended a District 54 elementary school for a minimum of one year;
• Attended a District 54 junior high school for two years; and
• Will attend an accredited university, college, junior college, trade school or vocational school upon graduation.

The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs is not looking for straight-A students, but rather well rounded, hard-working students involved in extracurricular activities both at school and in the community. Applications will be available in the College and Career Centers at all District 211 high schools, St. Viator High School, the Illinois Math & Science Academy and the District 54 Administration Office, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg, beginning Dec. 14, 2009.

Completed applications are due into the High School College and Career Center or District 54 Administration Office no later than 3 p.m. Jan. 27, 2010. Recipients will be honored at the Schaumburg Township Council of PTA’s annual Scholarship Recognition Dinner on May 12, 2010 at Jane Addams Junior High School. Elementary Summer Scholarship
As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the STC offers scholarships for summer programs/camps to District 54 students currently in 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences. Applications are available at each District 54 elementary school and junior high school. Completed applications are due to your school office no later than 3:30 p.m. on April 1, 2010. If you have questions, contact your school's scholarship chairperson.
